The Teacher I want to be

To be a teacher is to be willing to change his/her student’s behavior, taking them at where they are to somewhere they should be. Knowing the challenge, I still don’t know why I dared to enter the field of Teacher Education.

Upon understanding the concept of teaching as a profession, vocation and a mission, I have come to realize why I chose this field of specialization. At first, I really am convinced that I chose this course because I didn’t have that much of options; because teacher education specially non-math major is having only the basic math which I really appreciate; and because I have learnt that English teachers are in demand abroad specially to places that I really want to visit. Those are the only reasons that I honestly knew why I had pursued such, however it changed when I learnt about the first lesson of this subject. I have realized that I want to be like my teacher on my senior years.  A teacher whom I can call as my guardian, heroine, savior, inspiration and motivation. She has my greatest respect, even way beyond my family and relatives. You can say that I am exaggerating, but I really don’t care, I am not ashamed to call her such because she is the only one who understood me on the moments that I have no one to lean on. We are not that close actually personally, I am contented to hear her lessons, lectures and sermons in the classroom. Those alone had helped me big time.

I also want to be a teacher who practice what he preaches. A teacher that can reach his student’s hearts and lead them on the right path. I want to be a teacher that can be remembered whenever a student hears the word “TEACHER”.
